In this chapter, we will focus on some specific conditions for which frameworks are in place both in Belgium and internationally to streamline integrated cooperation between the various healthcare actors. Indeed, as a result of the rapidly evolving healthcare system, an ageing population and technological advances in healthcare, the healthcare system requires more and more coordination, integration and continuity. These integrated collaborations were created to improve the quality of care for specific patients groups. They are also based on scientific guidelines and expert input. By means of the frameworks provided, care is standardised and multidisciplinary cooperation between the various care actors is aligned.
Finally, we discuss the national action plan ‘Operation Zero,’ in which the authorities at the federal, community, and regional levels work together to reduce carbon emissions in the Belgian healthcare sector.
