In 2023, there were 1,749,272 classic hospitalisations, 2,509,933 day hospitalisations, and 2,759,510 outpatient contacts with the emergency department.[1] The Chorus and Elipse network recorded the largest number of patient contacts. These are also the hospital networks with the highest number of accredited beds. Half of the hospital activity of these two networks is made up of outpatient contacts with the emergency department.
Number of stays per type of hospitalisation per hospital network (2023)
When comparing the share of classic and day hospitalisations, we found that the proportion of day hospitalisations recorded by the hospital networks ranged between 50% and 67% in 2023.
Share of inpatient hospitalisation compared to day hospitalization per hospital network
It can be observed that in certain regions, the majority of patients consult the same locoregional hospital network. In the dark blue zones on the map below, 75% to 100% of residents go to the same hospital network. In the light blue and green zones, the choice of network is more diverse. This is possibly because hospitals belonging to different networks are located in the same region.
