Nurses and other healthcare professionals have been under intense pressure since the beginning of the pandemic. Due to the continued influx of COVID-19 patients, there was a risk that there would be insufficient staff available to administer nursing care.
For this reason, the decision was made that some nursing activities could be carried out by individuals who are not legally entitled to do so. In this way, it is the intention to continue to offer high-quality and safe nursing care as much as possible during the pandemic. It was an exceptional and temporary measure owing to the unique circumstances created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Exercising any of the activities is only possible under strict conditions that are laid down in law[1]: e.g. the supervision of a coordinating nurse is required, training must be followed prior to exercising any activities, etc.
